Boston Harbor "Levee" Plan Doesn't Have a Snowball's Chance in a Warming Climate

Yesterday former State Senator Golden penned this op ed in the Boston Globe calling for a regional "levee" to protect the 15 Boston Harbor municipalities threatened by the rapidly rising seas of our warming planet.  Senator Golden and others should be commended for rejecting the animating principle of our 1980s environmental regulations that "nature" should be allowed to run its course.  That thinking may have made sense a half century ago but it is folly in the face of the existential threat presented by our Green House Gas supercharged climate.  While I see no chance that the levee promoted by Senator Golden will ever be permitted, including because of the scientific evidence that it wouldn't work, I hope he and others will continue to focus their energy on advocating the changes to our 20th century environmental regulations that are essential to protecting us in the 21st century.  Retreating is not a strategy.  Neither is hope.
